Vorys (Ohio/Texas): Patent Office Updates You Need to Know

As part of our dedication to helping our clients stay up-to-date on the ever-changing landscape as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve compiled the following highlights of changes to patent, trademark, and copyright operations around the world. MORE.

Boase Cohen & Collins (Hong Kong): Lapping Up the Latest Travel Chaos

Some of you may be aware I recently did a “Pirelli Hot Lap” during the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. I was given a high-speed tour of the famous circuit in a Mercedes-AMG GTR – similar to the F1 safety car – with a professional racing driver at the wheel. It was, by turns (no pun intended), enthralling, exhilarating and entertaining. Not an experience for the faint-hearted. MORE.

Boase Cohen & Collins (Hong Kong): Comings and goings on Freedom Day

This week, Chief Executive Carrie Lam has shrugged off the recent exodus of residents from Hong Kong, insisting this is the “best time” to live in our city. In the past few months, a significant number of people have left for good, with many relocating to the UK under its new fast-track citizenship scheme for British National (Overseas) passport holders. MORE.

Williams Parker (Florida): Read to Report – Provider Relief Funds

If your healthcare business received (or will receive) certain funds from the federal government related to COVID-19 then you should familiarize yourself with some very important dates recently announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”). Failure to abide by the reporting requirements before the deadlines could lead to expensive repayment requirements. MORE.

Varnum (Michigan): MDHHS Issues New Agricultural Worker Testing Order

On July 1, 2021, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)rescinded its order requiring COVID-19 testing for agricultural employees. Boase Cohen & Collins (Hong Kong): Financial planning an age-old problem

Hong Kong has the highest life expectancy in the world. I discovered this interesting fact in recent days when reading a media report about the retirement plans of its citizens. I should stress that I simply stumbled upon this article and have zero interest in packing in work, just the opposite in fact. Fifteen months of pandemic-enforced grounding – before my current visit to the UK – has allowed me to cut out regular long-distance flying and adopt a far healthier lifestyle. MORE.

KCG Partners (Hungary): Updated travel measures in the EU

On 20 May 2021 the European Parliament and the Council agreed to establish the EU Digital COVID Certificate (EU Certificate) for travelling free across the EU. If the vaccination accelerates and the health situation becomes much better, the European Commission proposes to the Member States that they should gradually ease travel restriction measures. MORE.

Russell Kennedy (Melbourne/Sydney): Update on the Government’s stance on mandatory vaccinations and disclosure of vaccination status

Since the publication of our Alert ‘Can employers make vaccinations and temperature checks mandatory in today’s climate?‘, the Federal Government has indicated that it is reconsidering its stance on mandatory vaccinations. In a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Cabinet announced that it has sought further advice Australian Health Protection Principal Committee on the efficacy of a mandatory vaccination scheme. MORE.

Boase Cohen & Collins (Hong Kong): Irresistible roar of the Three Lions

I’m feeling overwhelmed by nostalgia. This week, we’ve been told Hong Kong’s historic Post Office headquarters is destined for the wrecking ball to make way for commercial redevelopment; our famous Peak Tram is bidding farewell to its iconic retro-style carriages in a HK$700 million (US$90 million) upgrade; we’ve even had headlines about colonial-era Governor David Wilson and his concerns over the 1997 handover, courtesy of newly declassified documents. MORE.
