Raslan Loong, Shen & Eow (Malaysia): Malaysia’s Lockdown Extended

FIRST PUBLISHED ON: 03.31.2020 – On 31st March 2020, the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas (No 2) Regulations 2020 pursuant to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (“Current Regulations”) were gazetted by the Malaysian Health Minister. The Current Regulations are an extension and tightening of the previous regulations gazetted to effect a Movement Control Order made pursuant to the same legislation. The restrictions under the Current Regulations are aimed at further curbing the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Malaysia. The previous regulations expired on 31st. March 2020 and the Current Regulations take effect from 1st April 2020 to 14th April 2020. MORE.
